Ahead of several states, including California, voting on marijuana legalization laws, Gallup reports that the share of Americans for legalization has approached a record 60%. Gallup has asked the question for 47 years.
In our CityStats poll, East Baton Rouge residents aren't for legalization, but opposition has declined from 55% in 2014 to 30% in 2016. A significant percentage this year were undecided.
Meanwhile, 72% in our EBR poll say that people convicted of possessing small amounts of marijuana should not serve jail time. People agreed on this across all demographics, including self-identified conservatives (63%) and Republicans (66%).
